Following my path
What Music activities are you involved in? Recording artist, songwriter, composer, producer, engineer?
Writing, recording, arranging, producing and performing music.
What aspect of what you do musically, do you find the most fun?
For me, both writing and performing. It is like validating your music when you perform it live.
How would you describe your music?
It is a spectrum of many influences, Singer Songwriter with Soul seems to work best if I have to categorize it.
How much of what goes into your music is life experience?
It is all life experience, whether I have experienced it in life or imagined it in my head 🙂
Who was your musical inspiration?
Likely my Mother at a young age, she loved music and thought all her children were the most talented kids on earth lol
How important is performing to you?
It may be the single reason most musicians do what they do, I’d say it is very important, it keeps the love for music at the top of the list when times get rough.
What are your goals and aspirations as a musician?
My one goal is to write and play music from the Heart, never sell out, and be successful.
If nobody listened to your music, would it still be part of your life?
Of course, it’s in the DNA of all us.
As a musician do you ever think you’ll quit learning your art?
Never, I would be a fool to think I know everything to know. I embrace learning new things music related or otherwise.
Do your family and friends support you pursuing your passion for music?
Yes they do support me 100%, I am very blessed.
What advice would you give to young musicians starting out?
Listen to your heart, your gut and stay true to you.
Do you use social media to share your music with others?
Of course I use it, that is what it is there for. It is a great tool and with the business the way it is, it is an absolute essential part of today’s Indie Artist.
What would you tell young musicians that may help inspire them to develop their talent?
The only thing we can do as humans that is only our own, is to express through what ever means that works, if you are given a talent musically, why not use it…plus chicks dig it hahaha.
What is your favourite time day or night, to work on music?
My favorite time to write is when I am inspired and I have either a pen & paper or my Laptop in front of me. Sometimes I get a whole song in my head sometimes when I am half asleep, I just hope I remember it in the morning, sometimes I do do, sometimes I don’t.
Do you ever have trouble finding time to work on your music?
Life is busy for everyone, just like anything else, you have to prioritize things that you want, should and need to do on any given day.
Do you ever get burnt out working on music?
I take mini mind vacations when I feel I need to, get’s me back to a better perspective, helps to avoid burn out.
When do you feel you’re the most creative musically?
Sounds silly but I have noticed during a full moon period I can be much more creative and inspired.
What was your first memory of music?
Hearing my Mother singing to the radio.
My final thoughts to inspire young musicians:
We will always be right when we follow our hearts.
