I love what I get to do, it’s hard to put it into words on how much it means to me when I get feedback for my music it makes me want to strive and improve as an artist. It’s amazing to this day and proud where I am today.
What Music activities are you involved in? Recording artist, songwriter, composer, producer, engineer?
Mainly song-writer and the singer I’ve shown fans a preview of ‘Country Summer Air’ which wrote myself and I’m really looking forward to releasing new covers and new originals.
What are you most proud of musically?
I’m proud of where I stand, I mean I’m always posting weather that’s a cover or a picture but 184,477 views over Fandalism.com is where it mainly began for me. I have the viewers to thank for that. I’m always getting feedback and I make sure they know I’ve seen it, I think it’s important to show that. Getting Feedback from stars over YouTube, is I can’t describe it, feels amazing to get recognition that you’ve covered one of their originals. It was nice of Madi Lee to recognise that.
How would you describe your music?
I try to do a variety over my YouTube channel sometimes it might be up-beat, or it might be a piano ballad or even country. It just depends but if I do get a song request I’m happy to take it up for fans.
Who is your favourite artist?
I really look up to Taylor Swift and Michael Jackson. I think the way that they word lyrics is amazing it gives a very powerful impression.
What are you trying to say through your music?
I just want to inspire my fans, if they’re going through a rough patch or they just simply want inspiration I’m more than happy to provide that. It would mean a lot if I was to get a message saying I had inspired them and they love what I get to do it would mean the world to see that.
How important is performing to you?
Performing is very important to any artist, even though I haven’t got any gigs booked at the moment I would love to go on tour and do a concert that would be incredible for sure.
How did you become interested in music?
I’ve always loved it, from the age of 2 I’ve been singing. However I didn’t start song-writing until I was 10/11 and didn’t start playing the keyboard until I was 12. But I also started playing the guitar 17 nearly 18.
If nobody listened to your music, would it still be part of your life?
Absolutely I do it for enjoyment. I don’t beg for people to listen to it over social media however but if they do ‘I thank you and hope to inspire you.’
What drives you as a musician to keep making music?
The comments and fans it all has to come back to them right? I mean without them you wouldn’t have a career. The comments and fans mean a lot to me I try my best to make sure I notice them.
As a singer/instrumentalist how important is practice?
I’m constantly practising since I release a cover every week I make sure I do a few songs in-case I get sick or something that way I’ve got something to give the fans.
What advice would you give to young musicians starting out?
I would say….’Keep going, and be strong’ despite what anyone says because you are going to get criticism I get it sometimes but it doesn’t stop me releasing music or striving as an artist. The comments and feedback play a big role if you get a song request or a fan telling you how much they love you, gotta make sure they know that they know you are listening I love my fans. I wouldn’t be where I am without them.
Do you worry about making it in todays music industry?
Erm….not really I mean I would love to sing for a living and I’m just going to keep doing what I’m doing and hopefully collaborating with another YouTube artist at some point and even go on tour but I’m mainly doing what I do because I love it it’s just a blessing that many others do enjoy it as much as I do.
What instrument or instruments do you play?
I play the keyboard and acoustic guitar.
How long does it take you to write a song from start to finish?
That depends sometimes you might have no idea what to write about but if you relate it to real life you can make it a story and a song pours out of you. I might be inspired by something I’ve done or listened to and I get inspired to write. It just depends.
Do you ever have trouble finding time to work on your music?
Amongst my one to one lessons with guitar and my college timetable yeah it can be difficult because you might be tired but I try to make the best of it. I manage to release a cover over YouTube every week.
Do you ever get burnt out working on music?
If I’m working hard I might sometimes but I don’t mind because you work on your music for the fans I wouldn’t want to let them down by not releasing music for a period of time so I make sure I try and release something every week.
When do you feel you’re the most creative musically?
When I feel inspired I might listen to a song or relate it to my daily life and write about it. Or create a creative video or cover.
What sort of musical training do you have?
I took singing lessons for a year a few years ago back in 2012 but have been singing from the age of 2 I’d say I’m mainly self-taught on that, now with my guitar lessons it would be hard to fund singing lessons as well. Playing the keyboard I’ve been playing from the age of 12 however I didn’t start to learn to read basic notation until I was 15/16.
My final thoughts to inspire young musicians:
Keep your head up and don’t let someone tell you, you can’t strive to achieve your dream be who you want to be don’t let someone tell you otherwise because they don’t think your good enough. Follow your own path.
